20 years of music and ministry – Canada’s Gospel Music celebration

by Alan Phillips

For 20 years, Canada’s Gospel Music Celebration has become the largest gospel music event in Canada, strategically located in the beautiful city of Red Deer, Alberta. Artists and fans from all over North America will gather for a three-day Uptown Camp Meeting this summer, on the weekend of July 12, 13, & 14 at the Enmax Centrium Auditorium. Gospel music harmonies, inspirational teaching, exhibitions, and fellowship with good friends in the big beautiful Alberta sky country.

Thursday’s opener will feature Dr. David Jeremiah, Senior Pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church and Founder and CEO of the international radio and television ministry, Turning Point. He will be speaking during the second half of the evening concert. You will experience some of the best music Southern Gospel has to offer throughout the entire weekend, like mega award-winning Booth Brothers, Triumphant Quartet, Legacy Five (Scott Fowler and Roger Bennett from the legendary Cathedral Quartet), Ball Brothers, and Greater Vision (the most awarded trio in the history of Gospel music). You will also see Western Canadian Prairie groups like 11th Hour, Singing Hills, Three and Company, Amundreds, Potter’s Clay, Daae Family, Double Portion, a trio with an amazing testimony called The Freedom Singers, and BC’s own talent like Young Street Vocal Band and Pilkey Sisters.

You can experience Morning Chapel and Canadian Showcases highlighting the Showcase Spectacular that includes events like ‘Down Memory Lane’ with Booth Brothers, and ‘Tribute to Hymns’ with Gerald Wolfe (Gospel Music Hymn Sing) and his guests.

See the event website to check out available accommodations. Red Deer has an excellent RV park with full hookups and facilities within walking distance of the arena, great Alberta hospitality included. If the full hookup sites are booked, they offer dry land parking right next to the arena for those who don’t require hookups. The rates are good and many have used this facility at past events for RV parking.

Event CEO Gord Reimer and President Wayne Dyck have stated, “We are called to spread the good news of the Gospel… as is. God promises that no one should perish. As we gather again this year to enjoy some of the best music this side of heaven, the message will be clear. You can’t miss it. We plan to have a great time together and return home changed. Holding to the line of a Gospel Music Celebration, we will be more than just entertained. Our goal for these exciting three days is to restore, refresh, and encourage everyone in their walk with the Lord. This year, as in past years, our prayer is that this event will be another spiritual refreshing and the opportunity to get to know Christ in a deeper and committed way.”

This 20-year milestone has much to offer with the finest in Southern Gospel music and a harmonious and spiritual experience to remember at the Canadian Gospel Music Celebration 2018, an inspirational getaway you will not want to miss this July 12 -14.
