Care and Prayer from the Calgary Leadership Prayer Breakfast

Jason Caldwell, Chairman

52nd Annual Calgary Leadership Prayer Breakfast, Oct.22.2020

“For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory…”

The restaurant was nearly empty on Wednesday March 11th.  Our 25th wedding anniversary was Day 1 of this now infamous pandemic; the last meal at a restaurant with my wife Shauna for a long time!   The early days of Covid-19 were a logistical scramble of changing plans, that transitioned to hunkering down, that has given way to wondering when this will all be over?

God knows.

So thankful that we can cast our cares upon the Lord, and entrust each new day into His hands.

I hope this email finds you in good health and in close fellowship with God.  I’m sure you’ve thought in your mind, or even asked God, “what is going on?”

One thing, I know for sure is…

Prayers for God’s Mercy, upon our community, province, and nation, are motivated by love, and the conviction that every human soul is of infinite worth. No earthly setback can compare to the value of eternal life which is offered as a gift, to everyone, through the blood of Jesus Christ.  However, the gift must be received.

Our busyness, our self-sufficiency, our ambitions; these so often impede the search for what is truly satisfying and valuable, especially the gift offered by Jesus, giving us the opportunity to be at peace with God the Father, especially to be confident in our destination and future after death.

The frantic nature of “the normal pace of life” can actually serve to oversaturate our lives and unwittingly undermine the opportunity to apprehend spiritual truth and a relationship with the God who created us to know Him.

In 50 days, so much has been stripped away: finances, sports, activities, and the under-appreciated opportunities to be close to one another.

This is a time of great sifting; a humbling time.  A time that perhaps, is mercifully creating opportunities for people to take a spiritual inventory, to discover that God loves them, to repent, and place their confidence for now and eternity into the trustworthy, loving, faithful, caring arms of God.

Please consider joining in prayer for what is undoubtedly the greatest opportunity for spiritual awakening in living memory.

God spoke to Solomon…

“ When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”  2 Chronicles 7:13,14

On behalf of the CLPB Committee, we are praying for you.  We’re praying for our community, our leaders, our city, province, nation, and world, but most of all for unsaved souls that need the forgiveness, peace, salvation, and eternal life offered by Jesus Christ!

Our hope is in the Lord exclusively!

“Therefore we do not lose heart.  Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.  For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen.  For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.”   2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Please don’t hesitate to be in touch, and let us know how we can be praying for you!!
