Walk for Hope

Support your neighbours in recovery

On July 11, 2020 from 9 am to 1:30 pm, Calgarians will be arriving at the Calgary Dream Centre to Walk for Hope. Individuals, churches, and corporations will be coming together on behalf of those overcoming homelessness and addiction.

The walk is part of the ‘I Choose Hope’ movement which was built on the foundation that hope always exists, even in the darkest of times. The Calgary Dream Centre has seen time and time again that hope really exists for individuals overcoming homelessness and addiction. They quickly recognized that it was a message the whole city needed.

“Joining the Walk for Hope is a way to say you believe we can help each other move forward and create a better future,” says Jim Moore, CEO of the Calgary Dream Centre. “Your participation will also show our residents how much their community cares.”

The 3 km walk will start at the Calgary Dream Centre and wrap its way around Stanley Park. Children are welcome to participate as little ambassadors of hope. There will be a scavenger hunt for them to complete along the route. To ensure the safety of all participants, the Dream Centre will be following all guidelines set out by Alberta Health Services and the Alberta Government.

Walkers are asked to make an individual profile or start a team on the Canada Helps Walk for Hope page and raise what they can by July 11 to support recovery. Thanks to a generous donor, all funds raised will be matched and double their reach.
